The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has sought to promote student learning in Social Studies, The Arts, and Health and Fitness through the development and implementation of CBAs and CBPAs. The passage of House Bill 2195 in 2004 formalized the importance of ensuring that students have the opportunity to learn in these three essential content areas. Since that time, thousands of educators have collaborated to ensure that state-developed assessments are rigorous, research-based, aligned to state standards, and relevant for all students in the state of Washington.
